About Us
Building Believers, a 501c3 non-profit organization founded by Deon Hunter in the fall of 2005, is a Christian-Based Community Youth Sports Organization whose goal is to “Build Up” kids and their families through sport-specific training based on Biblical principles.
Through Building Believers, families are able to get involved in an array of programs geared toward personal and spiritual growth. Although the ability to play basketball is taught, it is more important that we give every child a fair chance to learn.
Our staff consists of former players and current high school coaches throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Each staff member goes through a criminal background check prior to becoming employed. Staff members are then trained to teach, motivate and inspire children to believe in themselves as well as others.
One of our partnerships is with Academy4, a program in which once a month travels to underserved schools to offer mentorship and encouragement to 4th graders. Likewise, at Building Believers we participate in various church youth and community groups, local FCA programs, career days, and various public speaking events.
We take pride in offering programs to communities and areas that are less fortunate and have greater need than others. Our community based approach allows us to teach children how to become more effective youth leaders in their own community. As our founder, Deon Hunter, always says "help us help the kids."
